Education must keep up with modern life complexities: Sheikha Moza

DOHA: HH the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development Sheikha Moza bint Nasser underlined that education must keep up with the requirements of the various complexities of modern life with its speed, seriousness and permanence, saying that nothing is more relevant to life than education, and nothing is like education in its ability to influence and change.

Addressing the opening of the 5th session of the World Innovation Summit for Education "2013 WISE Summit", HH Sheikha Moza said that after five years.

It seems that WISE has reached maturity and its annual convention became anticipated date for its global importance as one of the large and sincere efforts that are being made in order to sustain innovation in education.

HH Sheikha Moza welcomed the participants for their determination to follow up the outcomes of the previous sessions and to continue to address the various issues of education through innovation mechanisms.

HH Sheikha Moza highlighted the close relation between education and life, and the ability of education to influence and change.

She wondered about the use of education if it was not connected to life, does not meet its requirements or keep up with its development.

She believed that education is supposed to put proactive answers for the possible life questions.

Education should be prepared to meet the challenges that have been emerging from time to time.

Such education needs an innovative work to achieve it.

New questions, new challenges and new problems are emerging every day and we must be innovative in creating solutions, especially in education, HH Sheikha Moza said.

This gathering is meeting in WISE in order to come out with innovation solutions that ensure upgrading to education and circulated it, and thus innovation becomes an essential context for educational vision, HH said.

She stressed that there are significant challenges ahead and much work to be accomplished, and this cannot be achieved away from the spirit of the Wise, the innovation in education, "when we innovate in education, we innovate in all other areas, which are necessarily affected by the conditions of education."

HH Sheikha Moza noted that education is apparently a goal in itself, but it is undoubtedly means, and the innovation in education is means towards a larger goal.

"Therefore, we are meeting in WISE, for innovation to become a pattern in education, for education to be promoted as the basic environment producing elements of innovation, and for education to precede life, or at least racing with life towards the future," HH Sheikha Moza concluded.

The annual World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) is a global collaborative initiative established by Qatar Foundation under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

Qatar Foundation works in partnership with international organizations involved in global educational issues.

These partners are closely associated with the WISE event, helping conceive high-quality debates and promoting the WISE initiative through their international networks.

The 2013 WISE Summit – Reinventing Education for Life is taking place at the Qatar National Convention Centre from October 29 to 31.

The event joins more than 1,200 prominent education, corporate, political and social leaders from over 100 countries to take part in three days of debate, dialog and networking to study how innovation can close the gap between education, learning and life. (QNA)
